GREAT NEWS !!

I have just seen that Adobe have made available to download the new Photoshop CS6 Beta !!!

http://labs.adobe.co...s/photoshopcs6/

Download Photoshop CS6 beta for Mac (DMG, 984 MB)
Download Photoshop CS6 beta for Windows (ZIP, 1.7 GB)

WOW! 1,7 GB !!!

Be aware that this is a DIRECT download and DOES NOT use Adobe´s own special download manager to avoid problems :) and so I recommend to use a trusted browser to do it.

I can recommend to use the www.opera.com browser that for me is the best and faster one for downloading BIG files.

PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT MISS THE NEW VIDEO ALSO

http://youtu.be/PTYcRWPsZUg

Be aware that this video ONLY shows 6 of the new features, and there are much more!

____________________________________________________________

SO I think that the rumors are right that the final version could be released sometime in April 2012, or if not in the first days of May.

Photoshop CS6 Highlights

Content-Aware Patch — Patch images with greater control using the newest member of the Content-Aware family of technologies. Choose the sample area you want to use to create your patch, and then watch Content-Aware Patch magically blend pixels for a stunning result.

Blazingly fast performance and a modern UI — Experience unprecedented performance with the Mercury Graphics Engine, which gives you near-instant results when you edit with key tools such as Liquify, Puppet Warp, and Crop.* Plus, a refined, fresh, and elegant Photoshop interface features dark background options that make your images pop.

New and re-engineered design tools — Create superior designs fast. Get consistent formatting with type styles, create and apply custom strokes and dashed lines to shapes, quickly search layers, and much more.

Photoshop CS6 beta includes all the features in Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CS6 Extended.

Take this opportunity to try out the 3D image editing and quantitative image analysis capabilities of Photoshop Extended*, but note that—while these features will be included in the shipping version of Photoshop CS6 Extended—they will not be included in the shipping version of Photoshop CS6.

IMPORTANT FOR THE CS6 BETA INSTALLATION

Do I need a serial number to install the Photoshop CS6 beta?

No. When you begin the Photoshop CS6 beta installation process, you will be presented with a Welcome Screen. To install the Photoshop CS6 beta, simply select the option labeled "Try. I want to try Adobe Photoshop CS6 for a limited time." Do not select the option labeled "Install. I have a serial number."

I have installed the Photoshop CS6 beta. How do I activate it?

You are prompted to activate the Photoshop CS6 beta as part of installation.

The following activation requirements will need to be completed within seven days after first launch of the Photoshop CS6 beta or it will stop working: Log in with an Adobe ID and Activate the product online.

If you do not have an Adobe ID, you will be prompted to create one as part of the Photoshop CS6 beta installation and activation process.

Once you have completed the activation process, you no longer need to be online to use the beta.

VERY IMPORTANT NEWS FOR UPGRADES

DO NOT DELAY THEM MUCH FROM NOW ON

Originally in November 2011 Adobe was NOT going to offer any discount to users of CS3 or CS4 and ONLY for CS5 or CS5.5, so the ONLY option was to buy a montly or yearly subscription.

Adobe Will Only Offer Photoshop CS6 Upgrade Price to CS5 Owners

If you’ve been waiting to upgrade Photoshop CS3 or CS4 to CS6 when it’s released sometime next year, here’s some bad news: the upgrade price won’t apply to you. Starting with CS6, Adobe will be enforcing a new upgrade policy:

You can see it here --> http://www.petapixel...-to-cs5-owners/

BUT then this year 2012 have changed their new policy and NOW will accept giving an option for previous users BUT ONLY UNTIL DECEMBER 2012

Adobe offers CS6 upgrade pricing for CS3, CS4 users

Under the new plan, CS3 and CS4 owners will have until December 31, 2012 to take advantage of the offer.

http://www.macworld...._cs4_users.html

And here is the official and real offer announcement from adobe

http://www.adobe.com...ade-policy.html

Adobe has change of heart for CS6 upgrade pricing

Stung by customer criticism, Adobe announced that CS3 and CS4 customers will be able to upgrade to CS6, not just be forced to move to a subscription plan.

___________________________________________________________

BE AWARE THAT MOST PROBABLY YOU WILL NO BE ABLE TO UPGRADE FROM CS4 OR CS5 TO CS7
___________________________________________________________

CS7 is suppossed to be available according to the new "upgrading" laws of Adobe in about 18 or 24 months AFTER the release of CS6. 12 months could there a be a CS6.5.

I would say you are psyched about Photoshop.

I try to stay away from the beta's and wait for the final release, simply due to the issues they had way back in CS3. It created a problem when trying to install the final version, Users would end up running a cleaning app to get rid of all traces of the beta before the final version could run correctly. So I am a bit gun shy.

I might try it, but I wouldn't be able to buy it, so I'm currently more into Gimp, takes some getting used to, but it has neat plugins. I wonder of the content aware options in ps now do what the devs promised for the last version.

I like content aware when it works. But generally one of the other tools will come in handy in those situations. To this day, I still think one of the coolest features is the ability to select hair or at least most of it from a complex background. I think with most tools in any app, if you throw the right thing at it, it will fail.
