Thanks, but that is thanks to the website itself. It lets participants create a minisite where they host artwork, blogs, polls and what not. Recently it seems they added optional printing service, where other peolple can order prints they like. i assume a part of the fee goes to the artist. I wonder if ill sell something

Hey everyone, its been a while since i did something big with genetica (besides shattered origins  ). I considered the 3d like island big by the way. that took me some hours to tweak and get right. (btw, thanks Chris for the idea of sun reflecting of the surrounding sea.) i think it can even be used to make stylized maps for video games, but ill try something like that later.

Lately ive been making some textures for Textures R Us, a texture company thet sells them in second life. a couple of days ago my first pack got released. Its a sci-fi pack. Here is a screen (The textures on the loose "bilboards" in front of the wall are made by me.)

Here is a list of tutorials and stuff that ill do when i have the time (schools over soon, and ill have a fulltime job for a few months, but the evenings are likely to be spent on Shattered Origins and Genetica stuff)

1-Oil Barrel Tutorial

2-Hdri environment and texture tutorial

3-Fallout Pack Completed.

Its alot, but fun to do and make, and ill gain some experience from it (that's why i practice genetica and 3d apps when i have some time off)

The Tower Bridge images- how exactly did you use an HDRI to color a photograph differently? They look very neat btw!

I used Picturenaut to make an hdri of multiple exposures, then i used qtpfsgui to tonemap it and save it to a LDR file format like png  (LDR meaning low dynamic range).

Thanks for the links b/c I had never heard of those programs before. Picturenaut looks quite fun to be able to make your own HDR images. If only I had a really nice camera.....I can think of a few situations where this program would have come in handy! And if only I had the time. Just have about 2,517 other things on my 'to do' list first! Ugh.

Here is a test in Unity Engine, We have a school project wherewe will make a 3d racing game (balls on narrow tracks) and we want to use Genetica for all textures, and shader effects (Reflection, parallax mapping etc :D)

Here is a material test:

Thanks! Its not a fancy mode, just a texture test so far. The project has started yesterday, monday we'll start building, today we were getting familliar with unity (Very user friendly!)

I passed the first year, so 3 more to go, the 2nd one just started. the first half of the 3rd year is an internship with (preferably) a game studio, or something related (Genetica related? ;) , would be neat if possible, but i'm not very good at programming so far :) ) With Arcan launched via Yamwa (See announcement in a sec) and Shattered Origins around the corner ill have a good portfolio i think. So getting a place to do my internship shouldnt be an impossible task. This year ill focus more on 3d, modelling, sculpting, and some other things (Like using displacement to make detailed models, and reduce polycount whilst keeping the texture, for natural looking models). My end-goal is to be a level/environment designer and texture models i make to make game-ready assets (Preferably with Genetica, since thats the program i use most and best, but im decent with photoshop too, but ill stick with genetica for independent projects :D)
