I have the same problem. I guess when I try to focus on it one of my eyes zooms in and the other zooms out. :unsure:

Well, be carefull your brain doesnt turn backwards. Did the illusion work for you? Its not intended to induce headaches by the way, that would be mean :P

That last one is neat--when I first saw it I thought the motion was more complex then it really was. It took me a while to realize it was just a static image being rotated!

The red cogwheel rotates, but does it rotate smoothly? Physically, the rotation is perfectly smooth as you can confirm by analyzing the gtx. However it seemingly jolts.

yeah haha, thats odd :D. I heared somewhere that 90% of what we (think we) see is what our brains make of the signals coming in. Meaning we have absolutely no idea how reality really looks :).

The brain analyses any information it receives and tries to make sense out of it. To increase efficiency does it by comparing the new data to info it has stored from the past. This enables it to come to results much faster. However, often it can not find an exact much and jumps to conclusions that are wrong. The Vibrator illusion I have posted is a case of alternate solutions whereby the brain can not make up its mind:
