Hi! I made a GTX today that enables you to make Ao maps and normal maps (And even a specular map to finish it off) on the fly! It produces a decent quality at default settings, but its easy to tweak it to get an even better quality.

I also posted the textures on my website, already rendered in PNG at 512x512 if you want to try them right away. The gtx also makes your input texture seamless, but its easy to turn it off if you just want to render out some effect maps.

Here is the link to the site :firefirefire:

The quality of the result is always going to depend to some extent on what you input but I have tried feeding it a few random images and the AO and Normal maps have worked well. Nice one; makes a handy filter. :firefirefire:  :firefirefire:

Thanks! Thats what i made it for :firefirefire:, with tweaking you can get better results per picture, but it might give you a head start and save you from making a filter like it youtself :firefirefire:

Thanks everyone! I always enjoy making things with Genetica, and even more so when others like what i made :).

It turned out quite well, i like how it makes input textures (when rendering the AO preview hidden in a group) look a bit more dynamic.

The links should be working again, i also added another set of ready to use textures to the post!

Feel free to check it out. (I really love the synthesis node :notworthy:, i cant wait for a foggy day to make some nice photos for making some more variations, and texture use in general)

Check them out here.

When I get the opportunity I'm going to see how this handles field textures/pictures; ground photos like tilled earth or harvested corn :notworthy:

Please do! I put a lot of thought in how to make a well balanced normal map (and AO map too) and idd love to see how it would look in some renders (displacement, bump etc).

I might be able to put them on the site too if you would agree on that. (im currently switching to another provider for our internet, things are kinda slow for now)

Hopefully later today and sure, you can post the results at your site as well.

Looks pretty neat! It does also look kinda wet due to the specular map i think, (it also seems you have a depth of field thing going on as well haha)

Thanks for showing :(, i think the texture/gtx might be a good starting point for things like this. With tweaking per situation/use you can get better results though.
