dna spiral animation

I want to create an animated spinning DNA, but I got stuck at the lines. Here is the animation, and the gtx. Can anyone help me out?

Nice job. I know it can be hard to emulate 3d in a 2d environment.

I believe the double-helix shape is more three-dimensional (not flat), and when rotated it would look more like this.
