Ban the spammers?

It's really annoying that this forum always have a bunch of fake members (bots) posting complete BS on the forums. I don't think there's no way to ban these. I can suggest some solutions, for example:

  1. When an user start a topic, check it's content programaticcaly. If it has a lot of "[url=" in the text, block the post.

  2. Check if the links was created using the "insert link" button in the editor, or just pasted.

  3. A simple captcha can also help a lot (only on new topics, not comments).

What do you think, it is possible to improve the forum like this? Or we always need to wait for an admin to delete 100s of new spam topics?

You are right. We have all these but some spam still go through. We are taking care of this.


We now have a system in place of an automatic periodic screening that neutralizes the spammers and eliminates any spam that may still go through.
